DESCRIPTION: Fort Lincoln Men’s Choir. Music was vital to camp life and because trained musicians were on one of the captured German ships, the quality was high and included classical music as well as beer hall music. In this photo the professional musicians entertain at Christmas. Japanese internees were allowed to attend German concerts, plays and Saturday nights at the casino. Poet Itaru Ina fell in love with western classical music while in camp, a love that continued throughout his life.
