Shadows on the Land is Kathryn Lipke-Vigessa's response to the ever changing relationship between the land and the land user and between modern and traditional agricultural practices. The North Dakota Museum of Art has embarked on a series of exhibitions titled The Emptying out of the Plains. The series addresses the depopulation of the northern plains and the ever changing landscape. Shadows on the Land is Lipke-Vigessa's commissioned piece that debuted in The Emptying out of the Plains exhibition at the North Dakota Museum of Art. This 27-minute DVD is a celebration of the beauty of prairie and the harmony of a fragile ecosystem.
