Guillermo Guardia, nicknamed “Memo,”  is a sculptor/ceramicist from Peru who received his Master of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics at the University of North Dakota and is pursuing another degree in Industrial Technology. In his camp we will build objects with clay and paper mache’, using color and texture in the design of each project. Kids will make their own individual creations and participate in a group project as well.

Adam Kemp was  born in England and earned his Master’s of Fine Arts from UND.  Awarded the Grand Forks first  Artist of the Year award in 2006 by North Valley Arts Council, his work can be found in many collections in the state.  A firm believer that art should be shared with the public, Adam has inspired young people as he leads them to create projects that give back to the community. Though Adam’s camps are crazy and a little raucous, he makes sure children learn art basics, collaboration, planning and problem solving while they are having TOO MUCH FUN! His camps will incorporate painting and building.

Sue Fink is the Curator of Education at the North Dakota Museum of Art. She is a painter and has experience celebrating creativity with youth. She directs the weekend Kid’s Workshops at the Museum where she teaches children to appreciate and create works of art. She has spent much of her career teaching, running workshops, and developing art programs for youth.

Greg Blair is from Red Deer,  Alberta, Canada. He recently earned a Master of Fine Arts degree in sculpture at the University of North Dakota. He coordinates programs and teaches  college sculpture and graphic design in Aberdeen, SD. Greg also conducts children's  workshops in rural schools  as part of the Museum's Rural Arts program. In this camp, “Names in Nature” students will use their own names,  paint, tools, wood and imagination  to design unique and large-than-life masterpieces.

Nancy Friese is a painter and printmaker who currently heads the graduate art program at Rhode Island School of Design.  From North Dakota, she returns every summer to paint the lovely landscapes and skies of her home state.   *Nancy’s camp will offer an intensive drawing experience as Nancy leads slightly older youths in drawing different subjects, using different techniques and materials. The camp, as well, introduces drawing as preparation for  those wanting to pursue art as a career or to take are classes  in high and college.  For ages 9-15.

Mike Hazard –. “Attention young movie-makers ages 6-10! We plan to make a fun video using “masks.” Every participant will do camera work, sound recording and perform in this hands-on, learn-by-making video camp. NO experience necessary. We’ll create masks and funny faces as we explore the world of video. Media Mike, as he is known, is an artist-in-residence at the Center for International Education in St. Paul, Minnesota. He has produced many videos, including Where is the World in Pelican Rapids with children from that city in Minnesota.
This camp is limited to 6-10 year old children and there are 12 spaces only in this class.
