Learn to draw your favorite superhero and create one of your own! This camp will teach you simple ways to improve your drawing skills in realistic styles using a variety of media! Create an interesting, powerful, cosmic superhero of your wildest dreams. You will have fun in small personal group sessions with an instructor and up to 5 classmates. 
 

All material provided, no experience necessary. 
 

Covid-19 precautions: Classes are limited to 6 students. Drop off and pick up in front of the Museum. Masks will be available and required. Gloves are available. Each person will have their own table to work at. Material will not be shared. Everyone will be spaced at least six feet apart. Please use restroom at home before class. Tait Simonson is from Faith, South Dakota, today he does most of his creative art work from Grand Forks, North Dakota. He attended undergraduate school at the University of South Dakota receiving his Bachelor of Fine Art Degree with an emphasis in Sculpture. He then went on to attend graduate school at the Pacific Northwest College of Fine Art to receive his Master's of Fine Arts degree. Since then he has been teaching Art at Central Valley Public School K-12, while receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Valley City State University. He specializes in sculpture and, focuses on light based architecturally responsive work, he also enjoys working with metal, clay, and wood.

Have you ever seen a drawing that just seemed to pop out of the paper or one you felt you could almost fall into? Learn a variety of optical illusion styled drawing techniques to bring your images to a whole new level. Utilizing simple lines and color to discover the secrets of the infinite white space on paper. You will have fun in small personal group sessions with an instructor and up to 5 classmates.

Hallways, buildings, and staircases! Has architecture, buildings and structures always eluded your drawing abilities? Learn the keys to unlock new spaces in your potential artworks, bringing them to a new dimension! Using simple drawing materials and processes of line, you will learn to construct a whole new expanse of image making! You will have fun in small personal group sessions with an instructor and up to 5 classmates.

Colorful Leaf Painting

If you love the outdoors and plants and can't get enough of them this is the camp for you! Campers will use leaves gathered from the environment around them to use in colorful paintings. They will explore how leaves can be printed using different materials, like watercolor, crayon and colored pencils! You will have fun in small personal group sessions with an instructor and up to 5 classmates.

Insta-Tree Making

Do you love trees? Would you love to have your own tiny tree of your own? This is the art camp for you!! Campers will learn how to create a freestanding sculpture using a lunch bag, and employ their mathematical measuring skills to create branches. They will manipulate the paper and transform it into a tree form.  You will have fun in small personal group sessions with an instructor and up to 5 classmates.

Perfect Sculpture Geometry

Love math, and sculpture and can't find the right way to mix your two interests? In this camp you will create amazing Icosahedrons, which are 20-sided shapes. Have fun making an amazing complex piece of geometry with a few easy steps, that doubles as a work of art! You will have fun in small personal group sessions with an instructor and up to 5 classmates.

Paper Quilling

Paper quilling is the art of cutting paper into long thin strips, rolling and pinching the pieces into different shapes, and then gluing the shapes together to form decorative art. Paper quilling projects can be used to decorate cards, boxes, gift bags, picture frames, or even be made into 3D stand-alone art pieces, and in this camp you get to learn how to do it on your own and be able to do yourself! You will have fun in small personal group sessions with an instructor and up to 5 classmates.

Love drawing on the sidewalk, but wish to take your artwork to a new level? Check out this camp where campers will be making awesome chalk art with black toned paper! Fun processes using cut-outs and chalk to make stellar negative space drawings! You will have fun in small personal group sessions with an instructor and up to 5 classmates.
